3. I asked my nurse colleague to confirm her identity.
In order to do this, this is what I had to do:
- As my colleague if she was happy to do this
- Got her email address
- She then received an email from the passport office and she had to enter details like her date of birth, passport details, address, etc and then had to verify that she was happy to confirm the identity of our daughter and fill out details like our daughters date of birth, etc.

4. Once this was confirmed, I received an email to send our daughters documents:
Naturalisation or registration certificate
any current or expired passports from other countries that haven’t been cancelled
any court orders (for example that describe parental responsibility or residency arrangements)
If you don’t have parental responsibility, also send the following:
a signed and dated letter from the mother (or other person with parental responsibility) giving consent for the issue of the child’s new passport.
Use a strong envelope that is the right size for your documents. Check the weight and pay the correct postage – consider using signed for delivery. Send your documents to:
HM Passport Office
UK-EDP-FTA
PEX 350 570 0637
Aragon Court
Northminster Road
Peterborough

Tips:
1. The whole process is very straightforward
1. The whole process is very straightforward
2. Nurses are always willing to confirm identity - if you have someone whom you are on good terms with, it should not be a problem. If you are struggling, there are a few other options mentioned here:
https://www.gov.uk/confirm-identity-online-for-passport-application
https://www.gov.uk/confirm-identity-online-for-passport-application
3. Remember to put all documents in an envelop, do not seal it and then get a returns special delivery bag from the post office counter, write your address on it ( so that the originals are sent back in it ) and then hand it in for tracked, first class, signed for , special delivery. The post office clerks are very good at explaining everything so ask them if you are confused about everything.
4. It can take anything from 2 to 8 weeks to get an email from the passport office so do not panic if you do not hear anything earlier.
I hope this blog helps.
